There is plenty of work. No way that you can ask “What can I do next?” twice in a row and not be fired.
So, if you are “out of work”, find new work by starting at the back of the workflow, and work on
- progressing any item if you have the skills; or
- fix a bottleneck if you have the skills; or
- pull in work from the queue; or
- find other value added work that will increase liquidity.
The key thing is that you are disciplined in start what you finish and finish what you start.
