Leadtime

az1:

  • If customers use your deliverable for some purpose, they will care about #leadtime. If you deliver a "stakeholder wish", may be not so much
  • To be useful in decision-making, #leadtime must be measured from the commitment point when a similar decision was made in the past.
  • Misunderstanding, disagreement about #leadtime mostly between those who have experienced actually measuring it & those who haven't.

az1: Why measure #leadtime?

  1. connection to customer satisfaction: duration, timeliness, predictability, tradeoffs with other criteria.
  2. input into decision making: When should we start this?
  3. to grasp the probabilistic nature of intellectual work. People get it by doing, not through instruction or debate
