You want the right amount of tension to get things done while learning. teams that finish early accelerate faster and first things first cultivate this healthy tension.


Therefore:

Avoid under-performing (not pulling enough) and over-committing (pulling too much). Pull a little bit less, and certainly no more than the running average of the velocities of the last three sprints into the new sprint. Top it off with an energizing sprint goal.
